I am still reading articles on trends for 2017 and the one item I found interesting was that 61% of companies believed that their staff communication needed to improve and they felt that by doing that, it would improve employee engagement. 57% believed that technology would help them achieve this.
Whilst we talk about staff communication, we cannot ignore the fact that more and more people are communicating and expressing their opinions via social media. In South Africa this has become so much of an issue that the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) says the proposed Hate Speech Bill in its current form could see the prosecution of social media users who retweet and share hate speech content.
According to the State of the Industry: Employee Wellbeing, Culture & Engagement in 2017 produced by Workforce and Virgin Pulse the top three HR initiatives in 2017 were:
