Overview: As a Junior IT Programmer, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of software applications and systems within our organization. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for programming and a desire to grow their skills in a dynamic IT environment.
Knowledge and skills requirement:
- Company network and PC setup and maintenance – updating software and troubleshooting day-to-day issues in a small internal Windows network.
- PHP programming
- Troubleshoot bugs in existing PHP system
- Make changes to existing and create new functionality, e.g. new reports
- Familiarity with the basics of SOAP and REST APIs
- MySQL or MariaDB databases
- Understand the database design schematic and use of keys and indexes
- Run queries to extract data
- Edit and add rows to existing tables
- Familiarity with the Linux command line in a hosted environment
- Able to make an SSH connection to a server and run basic commands such as deleting large files
- Familiarity with WordPress – website design is not required for this role, but the ability to assist with technical troubleshooting for the company’s websites is desirable.
- Compliance and documentation
- Maintain the company’s policies on data protection, security, etc, and update as needed.
- Run vulnerability testing on a scheduled basis.
Qualifications:
- A qualification in software development, or a related field.
The position is full time and based at an office in Edenvale, Johannesburg. The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle. The candidate may be required to complete a skills assessment test as part of the interview process.
