SAA woes caused by unqualified CEO
November 27, 2014
Screening company, iFacts CEO, Jenny Reid says if South African Airways (SAA) had a more qualified person in charge then it would not be in the trouble it is in.
On Tuesday, SAA said it stands by its decision to appoint Nico Bezuidenhout as Acting Chief Executive Officer, based on his proven experience, capability and track record.
This follows allegations that Bezuidenhout lied about his qualifications. It says in the opinion of the Board, the tertiary studies that Bezuidenhout has completed, although incomplete, provides sufficient grounding.
SAA adds that his performance track record exceeds that of a number of previous, and highly qualified, airline CEOs.
Speaking on AM Live, Reid says companies do not have proper screening policies in place and they don’t follow proper procedures.
